Music Director Nurhan Arman leads the orchestra in a program drenched in melody. One of Mendelssohn's brilliant string symphonies opens the concert, followed by the return of a spectacular virtuoso who thrilled Sinfonia Toronto listeners in 2021. Grandson of the legendary Soviet violinist Viktor Pikayzen, violinist Igor Pikayzen completed degrees at Yale and Juilliard, won numerous international competitions and has performed with major orchestras around the world. He joins Sinfonia Toronto for Shostakovch's gripping Sonata for Violin with String Orchestra and Timpani. After intermission the orchestra will play one of the most beloved works of the Romantic repertoire, the famous Serenade Dvorak wrote with great joy during the ecstatic early years of his marriage.
